Please join us August 11th at the Country Club of Peoria.
Our speaker, Tonya Taylor, will introduce us to some
‘Tools You Can Use for Business and for Life’.

Tonya Taylor, VP of Programs

During our program she will introduce you to 3 tools to make you more effective. You will be provided handouts with templates that you can take back to work and put into use. So, make sure to bring a pen or pencil. Think about the times that you have had to convince someone to support one of your ideas. Was the effort a success? Were you prepared for their questions? Did you feel like they weren’t listening or understanding?

  • The first tool will help you to convince people to support your initiative, leading to quicker and increased results.
  • Many times team members, knowingly or unknowingly, make biased decisions. Biased decisions lead to friction within teams and rework. The second tool will help you and your team to make fact based decisions, resulting in long-term solutions.
  • And the third tool is a super easy method to help you quickly get to the root cause of many issues. Have you fixed a problem one month, only to have it pop up again next month? It wasn’t actually fixed; it was only bandaged. Fixing problems permanently deduces workplace stress and frees up time.

Menu:

Chicken Caesar Wrap
Mud Pie

Vegetarian and Gluten Free options available.

Welcome to WIL

Welcome to Women In Leadership!

Shawna Knapp
WIL President 2011-12 Knapp_Shawna@yahoo.com

Wow! My term as President of Women in Leadership is finally here. I have had such great mentors from past presidents during my 5 years of being on the WIL board. They have each had their own style and I have learned so much by watching and listening to them. I have always loved WIL because the members have always been supportive. We are not competitive with one another even when we are in the same field. We celebrate each other’s accomplishments and support one another when we might be down on our luck. Where else can you find such a great group of ladies like that?

I had also been looking for a group of female mentors. I have been an architect for 15 years and was always looking for a female architect as a mentor and role model. I could not find that in the male dominated industry, but I have found that in WIL which I cherish at each meeting.

Whether you just stumbled upon our website, were directed here from a friend/colleague, or are already a member, I thank you for stopping by and reading about our amazing organization.

Women In Leadership was founded in 2004 and is comprised of some of the most outstanding women in Central Illinois.  Our organization’s mission is to promote leadership among women by providing mentoring, networking and educational opportunities.  We utilize our monthly meetings and special events to help members and guests get connected and provide opportunities to network. We bring in speakers to our monthly meetings to help build our members personally and professionally.

Our monthly luncheon meetings are the second Thursday of each month at the Country Club of Peoria.  The only exception is in February where we meet at a different location.  I encourage you to check out our Calendar of Events to learn more about our monthly speakers and to double check the location.  We provide ample time for you to network with women so be sure to sit at a different table each month.

If you have any ideas, questions, or concerns, please let me know!  You are important to our organization and we value your input.  The 2010-2011 Board of Directors has a very exciting year ahead and we hope that you participate in the monthly meetings, special events and network luncheons whenever possible…as with everything in life, you get out of it what you put into it.

Here’s to a successful, healthy year where we all grow professionally, personally, and spiritually.

2011-12 WIL President
